Susumu Yokota’s Albums as Stevia Treated to Vinyl Reissue

1997’s ‘Fruits of the Room’ and 1998’s ‘Greenpeace’ were previously only available on CD

Two rare albums recorded by the late Japanese composer, producer and DJ Susumu Yokota under the alias Stevia are set to be re-released.

Previously only available on CD, the 1997 release by the prolific artist bedroom fruit and 1998 follow-up green peace will now receive their first vinyl and digital releases on June 10 via the Madrid-based label Brilliant Mistakes.

bedroom fruit finds Yokota dipping into house, drum & bass, jungle and dub, while green peace interested in loops, breaks, psych and krautrock.

In their original format, both are hard to find outside of the artist’s native Japan — an original CD by bedroom fruit is actually listed on Discogs for over $250 Canadian.

Both bedroom fruit and green peace feature reimagined cover artwork created by Japanese visual artist Masaho Anotani, while audio has been remastered by Damian Schwartz.

Yokota passed away in July 2015 after a long period of illness. He was 54 years old.
